Romania Wins First Prize in CIPE's Youth International Youth Essay Competition Two Years in a Row
CIPE recently announced the winners of its 2010 Youth Essay competition, which comprised three categories: Women and participation; Democracy that delivers; and Entrepreneurship and society.
For the second time in a row, the first prize in CIPE's International Youth Essay Competition has been won by a Romanian.
This year, Ioana Schonberger-Benjamin won first prize for category "Entrepreneurship and Society", following in the footsteps of Irina Alionte, who won first prize for category "Education reform and labour market" in 2009.
Ioana Schonberger-Benjamin's essay, „România and the need for a new entrepreneurial culture”, addresses the real issues that young Romanian entrepreneurs are currently facing.
Ioana wishes to build a social enterprise and will use the prize to fund a feasibility study. She also intends on using all the knowledge she has gained so far by taking part in numerous conferences, seminars and workshops on matters concerning public policymaking, business and marketing.
Ioana's victory has received considerable attention both in prominent print publications, such as Capital, as well as in the online environment :
