Camelia Bulat - Program Director


Since October 2003, Camelia Bulat directs and coordinates CIPE Regional Office activities in accordance with identified organization's goals to obtain optimum efficiency, economy of operations and maximum of impact. She works directly with CIPE Washington for the development of CIPE Regional Office's strategy, and is responsible for implementing it. In addition to running the CIPE Regional Office, she has been invited as a trainer and facilitator in several CIPE conferences and trainings around the world. 

Camelia Bulat started with CIPE in 2000 as a Director of Advocacy and Programs, coordinating the technical assistance for business associations in the ICT sector and for women business associations. She has a significant experience in working with business associations, chambers of commerce and other NGOs. Formerly, she worked with Citizens Democracy Corps as a Project Manager, and with International Executive Service Corps, which allowed her to collaborate with a number of private sector associations throughout Romania. Her proven track record of successful project management makes her a valuable asset to the CIPE program. She holds a BA in Biochemistry from the University of Bucharest, and a Professional Diploma in Management from the Open University, UK. In 2004 she graduated the MBA program from the same university. In 2007, she graduated the Institute for Organization Management (USA). Camelia Bulat is fluent in English and proficient in French.

Carmen Stanila - Deputy Director


Carmen Stanila has experience promoting CIPE's message in local communities and at industry conferences. She has organized several round table discussions and coordinated business surveys and conferences. She also oversees internal office affairs, managing all accounts and finances and she is in charge with drafting program reports for the head office. She graduated from the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Foreign Languages and she holds a degree in French and English. She has previous experience in non-governmental organizations as she served with Citizens Democracy Corps. In 2000 she started working with CIPE.

Carmen Stanila has a Professional Certificate in Management from the Open University, UK and an MBA from the Academy of Economics, Bucharest and the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, Paris. Carmen Stanila has also attended the training program of the Institute for Organization Management, US.

Paula Anastasiade - Program Assistant


Paula Anastasiade joined CIPE’s Bucharest-based Regional Office in 2009 and is in charge of monitoring projects on a daily basis, handling logistics for various events, communication activities, performing website updates/maintenance, translation and interpretation tasks, as well as other duties, as assigned. Her previous experience includes several research assistantship appointments in the fields of Sociology, Mediation and Facilitation, as well as Urban and Regional Planning. She has also worked in the Romanian and Canadian media as writer and editor, and has some experience in the Romanian non-governmental sector, particularly in handling communication and translation tasks.

Paula Anastasiade holds an MSc in Political Science (Conflict Resolution and Governance) from the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands), and a B.A. with Honours in International Studies and Sociology from York University (Canada), as well as a Certificate in Law and Social Thought from York University (Canada) and a Leaders of the Third Millennium Certificate from the Codecs Foundation (Romania) and the British Council (United Kingdom). Paula Anastasiade is fluent in English and French, and she is also an intermediate-level Spanish speaker.

CIPE Celebrates UN International Youth Day

In celebration of UN International Youth Day on August 12, 2010, CIPE has created a series of blog posts, photos, and videos about inspiring young people working to strengthen democracy around the world. These emerging leaders make sure that their voices are heard and their needs are met. In so doing, they uphold their responsibilities as citizens and help create positive change in their communities.






CIPE's 2010 International Youth Essay Contest is now closed.  Winners will be announced soon.

The three contest topics are: Democracy that delivers, Entrepreneurship and society, or Women and participation.  Winning articles will be published by CIPE and will receive a $1,000 honorarium. Read more
